Bradbury - Small Family Farm

Small. Family Run. Diverse. These are the guiding principles for Bradbury - Small Family Farm, who will be bringing their beef, pork, lamb and birdseed to the Farmers Market on February 28!

It all started in 1999 with a cow calf operation in Oro - Tom and Jeanette also raised pigs there until 2003 when the Mad Cow crisis hit and affected their ability to continue farming

The family was able to return to their roots in Cookstown in 2006 and their passion for farming was reignited and their journey once again, began

Truly a family owned and operated farm, Tom & Jeanette’s son Earl raises sheep  and their daughter Elizabeth has a flock of laying hens

In 2021 the family farm expanded yet again with the production of their high quality bird seed and livestock feed!

They attribute their success to many factors; most importantly, the support of their family and neighbors.

Breedon's Maple Syrup

Come celebrate 30 years with @breedonsmaplesyrup and sample some of their delicious syrup on February 28 from 12-2 at the AgKnowledge Vendor Market!

Kent and Dawn started making syrup while both working full-time jobs—it began as a small hobby with busy but humble beginnings. Their first year, they started with 600 taps, and over the years, they have expanded significantly, growing to 13,000 taps.

Together, they raised four boys who have been involved in every aspect of the business. Although the boys now work off the farm, they still make time to help on weekends when needed.

You can shop Breedon’s full line of products at their farm store, which is open year-round, at The St. Lawrence Market on Saturdays, and in about 25 retail outlets across Ontario. The Breedons also co-pack a maple-based product for a company in the U.S.!

In addition to running a modern and clean facility to process their sap into syrup, the family takes pride in being eco-friendly. They use recycled renewable fuel—wood pellets—to power their evaporator.

During maple season, they offer tours where visitors can see both their modern processing system and an old-fashioned display, blending tradition with innovation.

Organic Garlic Farm

Stop by and try some amazing garlic from @organicgarlicfarm on February 28 as part of the AgKnowledge Vendors Market!

Dalia and Jason began their farming adventure after growing their own vegetables in the city and wanting more land. Dalia grew up in the Azores, where fruit trees and gardens are everywhere, inspiring her love for growing delicious, whole foods.

In 2014, they purchased a small farm in Cookstown that suited all their needs and became the third owners of their garlic farm. Their garlic journey began with eight varieties, grown using only organic methods. Today, they cultivate 21 varieties and produce their own black garlic, which they sell year-round at their farm gate store. Their garlic is known for its spicy, flavorful taste and distinct heat, thanks to their rich muck soil.

In addition to garlic, they offer local produce and fresh fruits and vegetables at affordable prices. Visit them in Cookstown and support your local farmers!
