Film Production

 

The Film Liaison at  Nottawasaga Futures is committed to assisting you in all aspects of your film project. We can help you find what you need to complete your production, from scouting the perfect location to connecting to local businesses for services and goods.  Since 2001, our office has been the liaison between local host communities, residents, and production companies to ensure a positive experience for all involved while filming in any of our partner municipalities, being the Township of Adjala-Tosorontio, Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury, Township of Essa, Town of Innisfil, and the Town of New Tecumseth.

Ontario offers competitive tax credits and programs to support film and television production, which play an important role in increasing economic activity and job creation in the province.

Ontario Creates 2023 Quick Facts:

  • Ontario’s Film and Television industry contributed $1.8 billion to Ontario’s economy in 2023, creating 25,862 high-value full-time equivalent direct and spin-off jobs for Ontarians.
  • Despite the US labour disruptions that impacted the industry in 2023, domestic Film and Television production drove 52% of total spending in Ontario, representing $947 million.
  • Domestic Television Series production was strong in 2023, with 138 productions contributing over $639 million in expenditures.
  • Live Action production accounted for 371 of the total 404 productions in 2023.
  • The data tracked by Ontario Creates does not include commercial production or broadcaster in house production. Broadcaster in-house production is estimated at $669 million in 2023.
  • In 2023, the US labour disruption posed challenges for Ontario’s Film and Television industry, leading to production delays and disruptions.
  • Indicators are pointing towards a rebound for 2024, however, factors such as shifting content strategies among foreign streaming platforms, budget cuts for independent production by Canadian broadcasters, and increased production costs may affect the rate of return and new normal production levels
